PAUL BAKAN
Paul played trumpet in the high school marching band. No really, he did. One day, while the band was marching in a parade, a majorette's baton got away from her and landed between Paul's feet, causing him to fall face-down with the trumpet still pressed against his lips. Although miraculously uninjured, he endured months of therapy to overcome his newly-acquired fear of trumpets. It didn't work. Then one day while listening to the radio, he happened to hear Lola, by The Kinks. He said to himself, "Self, that's the kind of music I want to play! It has a great story, and no trumpets!" But why he chose the guitar remains a mystery.
